my legacy planner

Experts say that 70% of Americans do not have a current will or estate plan. This means that the vast majority of Americans do not have a will or trust that matches their current goals with their estate plan. Does your estate plan take into account the most recent tax laws? My Legacy Planner will not only allow you to assess your current will but also provide you with a thoughtful framework as you prepare to meet with your attorney or financial advisor.

The My Legacy Planner is a state of the art online workbook which allows you - in the comfort of your own home - to answer basic questions related to your estate plan. My Legacy Planner is fully secure and completely confidential. No one sees what you input into the planner, only you.

The workbook, which takes less than 15 minutes to complete, will give you charitable options designed to reduce your estate taxes and other information that you may find useful.

You can print a summary of the document to take to your tax attorney too. There is no cost to you to use MLP.

the heritage society

Transform your passion and leave a lasting legacy.

WaterTower Theatre’s Heritage Society welcomes all who have made gifts to WaterTower Theatre through bequests, life income gifts, insurance policies and other estate planning vehicles.

Friends who are making legacies to the theatre in their estate and financial plans will fulfill their philanthropic goals by helping WaterTower Theatre build endowment and provide for the ongoing needs of the theatre.

The Heritage Society is one of the simplest ways to show your commitment to WaterTower Theatre’s future.  There are also many tax advantages to making a planned gift, and some vehicles can even provide retirement income for yourself or a loved one.  Planning now will help ensure that the people and causes important to you are remembered after your lifetime.

Membership in the Heritage Society is one way that WaterTower Theatre expresses its appreciation to these important supporters.

planned giving and endowment

Philanthropy has played and continues to play a vital role in the success of WaterTower Theatre.  A crucial philanthropic goal is to adequately endow WaterTower Theatre.  An Endowment Fund ensures the future of the theatre, and the presentation of the finest stage productions and vital education and community programs in accordance with the highest professional standards.  The principal of WaterTower Theatre’s newly established Endowment Fund is carefully invested, while the annual interest generated supports WaterTower Theatre’s artistic and educational programs on an annual basis.  All endowment gifts (minimum gift of $25,000) make a difference because taken together, they form a strong foundation that continues to grow for years to come.

You can help secure WaterTower Theatre’s future by making an outright gift of cash or securities, or a planned gift (bequest, life insurance, charitable beneficiary in your will, charitable remainder trust) to WaterTower Theatre’s Endowment Fund.  Your gift will mean that WaterTower Theatre can continue to create exceptional theatre and education programs.

As a nonprofit theater, gifts from individuals, businesses, government and foundations underwrite 60% of WaterTower Theatre’s annual operating budget and are the means by which we create beautifully-crafted productions, keep ticket prices affordable and offer stimulating education programs.  Across North Texas, WaterTower Theatre is known for artistic excellence and educational innovation - made possible because of this support.

benefits of membership

The greatest benefit of belonging to The Heritage Society is the satisfaction of knowing that your long-range plans will help ensure WaterTower Theatre remains an Addison cultural institution.  As a member, you will also receive these special benefits:

  • Playbill recognition
  • Invitations to select play readings and special events
  • Recognition on a permanent lobby plaque
A Special Recognition of Mrs. Holly Canterbury

WaterTower Theatre Board of Directors and Terry Martin, Producing Artistic Director, would like to recognize the enormous contributions of Mrs. Holly Canterbury.

WaterTower Theatre is pleased to announce the establishment of The Heritage Society and the Holly Canterbury Endowment Fund for Artistic Excellence.

A generous financial gift that Holly recently made to WaterTower Theatre has enabled us to formally establish The Heritage Society and the Holly Canterbury Endowment Fund for Artistic Excellence. Holly feels strongly that an endowment will help solidify WaterTower Theatre’s financial stability and therefore ensure that the important work of WaterTower Theatre will continue in perpetuity.

It says a lot about an organization when a patron chooses to make such a gift, but it says far more about the giver. Holly is simply an amazing person. She has lived in Addison for more than 25 years and, during that time, has done so much for the Town of Addison. She is one of the longest serving members of the Addison Business Association (ABA), she started the original Carnival at Oktoberfest in Addison and served as ABA’s President and Treasurer for many years. Holly is one of WaterTower Theatre’s original subscribers; theatre is her passion. Her belief in the importance of the arts to our community is demonstrated by the impact of her many years of support to WaterTower Theatre and, especially, by the enduring legacy of her recent gift to establish WaterTower Theatre’s Endowment Fund.

Thank you Holly Canterbury!
